The Dollar, as you know it, is going away. Paper money; physical cash, is being phasednout of society one transaction at a time. I witnessed the beginning of the slow death of cash the first time I served in the Army. While in Basic Training at Ft. Benning, Ga., we new recruits lined up once a month at a heavily guarded, makeshift office for the Paymaster to take our information and signatures and issue us our cash payment for serving our country. From there, we marched down to the closest PX (Post Exchange) and gave the money back to Uncle Sam in return for “civilian” food, beer and personal hygiene items.
By the time I had graduated Basic Training and Airborne School, the Army’s pay system was changing. When I got to my first permanent unit, it was mandatory that we have an account at a local bank or Credit Union with Direct Deposit for our monthly pay. After that, whenever I wanted REAL money, I either had to go inside the bank and make a withdrawal, or use any of the hundreds of convenient ATMs (for a fee, of course). I usually opted for the ATM…damned service charges!
But that was the beginning of the end of cash. Like the opening scene of (Scorsese’s) ‘Apocalypse Now’, with the Cobra helicopter gunships flying overwatch above the Vietnamese jungle and the fast movers swooping in to drop Napalm (all slow motion for effect) to the tune of “This is the end, my friend, the end…”by Jim Morrison, I saw the first death throws of physical currency and I somehow instinctively for saw the coming cashless society with all of the convenience and diabolical control that accompanies it. (How’s that for a long sentence?!)
Kids nowadays spend more money than they will actually ever see (physically, that is). But the thing is, they don’t realize that digital currency, although very convenient, brings with it the ability for anyone (the government included) to track every single transaction, from the time they received the money, to the very last penny spent in the Dollar Store, and EVERYTHING else in between. They don’t know that people can see what they are buying, where they’re buying it, how much it costs, whether or not they receive change back (which is rare nowadays, I know) and what types of investments they make.
So that real fact brings me to this: What’s keeping some unknown, fat, stupid bureaucrat from freezing someone’s bank accounts with the click of a mouse, just because he thinks that someone doesn’t need to buy that firearm for hunting or home protection? What’s to prevent the faceless government pencil pushers from amassing a database of all gun owners, or political rivals, or even dissenters and then using that information to get a Federal Judge’s order in a Secret Court to freeze their accounts; to kill their ability to earn a living, or buy gas, or food, or medicine, or even pay their bills? The answer is NOTHING!
If you don’t think this is exactly where they’re headed with this cashless society, Central Banking, and monitoring your every move, then you really need to wake up and smell the huge shit sandwich the government’s getting ready to shove down our throats!
