The U.S. Army has banned “toe shoes” such as the popular Vibram “Five Fingers” shoes that look like a glove for your foot. “Effective immediately,” an Army policy ordered, “only those shoes that accommodate all five toes in one compartment are authorized for wear.” The rationale, the policy states, is that “shoes that feature five separate, individual compartments for the toes, detract from a professional military image.”
A THOUGHT: But you have to admit, the big footprints left in Iraqi sands looked pretty intimidating.
